Police, Protest, Racial Justice and Mental Health Panel and Q&A

A healing center on every corner. Eliminating police from almost all mental health calls. Ethnoculturally sensitive practitioners. Loan forgiveness for people of color who become social workers in Black and brown communities. Voting for candidates willing to make real, intersectional investments in fairness, justice and equity.

Those are just a few of the suggestions made by our experts - a public health doc, a psychiatrist, a police chief, and a social worker and artist with lived experience - at our virtual panel on June 25. Almost one out of four police shootings in America involve someone with mental health issues. And in New York City, 16 out of 19 people living with mental illness killed during a police encounter were people of color. At Fountain House, we know this all too well, as one of our members, Deborah Danner, was among them.

There is another way. Watch now to find out. At this perilous moment in our country, there is promise - you don't want to miss this.
