We, at Fountain House, were excited to acknowledge publicly our wonderful corporate partner, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, at a national ceremony in Washington, D.C. Larry Willams, the firm's Director of Office Services and Facilities, responded with such a gracious note about the benefits of employing Fountain House members, we just had to share it.
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for inviting and sponsoring me at the recent National Clubhouse Employment Expansion Project celebration held in Washington, D.C. on November 16, 2011. It was great speaking to others who participate in Clubhouse programs throughout the nation. We all seem to share the same stories. Clubhouse workers are dedicated, responsible, loyal, and hardworking individuals. Their sole purpose is to provide excellent service.
As you know, we hire transitional workers through Fountain House, and the program has been very successful for both of us. We get to help those who live with mental illness with employment opportunities, and members give us the opportunity to fill a much-needed position.
It never dawned on me that the little we do in hiring transitional workers means so much to the members and staff at Fountain House and other supporting Clubhouses throughout the nation. Your staff has done a yeoman's job at preparing candidates for employment. The moment that a transitional assignment ends, another candidate is already on the horizon. I am shocked that more employers do not seek out the services of Clubhouse members. I am proud to be a partner with such a worthy cause. I'd be willing to discuss the benefits of transitional employment with any prospective employer.
Again, my sincere thanks and appreciation for honoring Kramer Levin with the National Clubhouse Employment Expansion award. It was a thrilling day to be presented with such a prestigious award by Congressman Jerrold Nadler.
