Fountain House is located at 47th street in the west side of midtown Manhattan between 9th and 10th Avenues. It is convenient to all public transportation routes. Visitors are discouraged from traveling to Fountain House by car, as parking in midtown Manhattan is restricted and expensive. A fine public bus and subway system is available in reaching Fountain House. The Port Authority Bus Terminal, a major transportation hub for the entire New York City metropolitan area, is a ten-minute walk away and taxis are always available at the Bus Terminal for those with baggage.
For those traveling by air, Fountain House is easily reached by any of the three New York airports: Kennedy and LaGuardia in New York, and Newark across the Hudson River in New Jersey. Take any of the reasonably-priced group shuttle buses to the city, which can be found in the baggage claim area of each airport. Rides cost about $15 per person and come right to the front door of the clubhouse. For those who will be staying in the Ellabee Guest House and arriving after business hours, arrangements should be made in advance so that the room keys are available with the night watchman.
