Marilyn Boden is one of the newest members of the Horticulture Unit. Marilyn first started coming to Fountain House in May 2003, where she began working and teaching in the Education Unit. After seeing some of the exciting projects happening in Horticulture, she decided to make the switch. “I enjoy making flower arrangements, working in the garden, and visiting High Point Farm.”
It feels great to be working. The discipline is good for me. I’ve been out of the work force for the last ten years, and I really want to be self-supporting. Fountain House TEs are helping me get back on track.
Marilyn learned of Fountain House through her mother, who has been a constant source of support to her. Marilyn’s mother recently visited Fountain House for the first time at our Friends & Family Open House. “She absolutely loved it,” according to Marilyn. She and her mother attended some of the new Family & Friends educational workshops this Fall.
Marilyn has seen a real improvement in her health since joining Fountain House. She claims her symptoms have abated and she feels her health is more stable than it has been in years. Where before she often felt isolated and lonely, she now has a new group of friends. “Fountain house has given me a lot of support. I always know that I have someone to turn to.”
She has completed her first Transitional Employment position at the Museum of Modern Art. “It feels great to be working. The discipline is good for me. I’ve been out of the work force for the last ten years, and I really want to be self-supporting. Fountain House TEs are helping me get back on track.”
