Housing

“They helped me make it on my own, yet I was never alone.”
—Gerald
“Having my own apartment means so much to me. It’s important to have a place to be exactly who you are, where you don’t have to be a diplomat or a salesman, where you are truly the master of your own destiny.”
—Chris
Fountain House is committed to offering safe, affordable and dignified housing to as many members as possible. We have been helping our members create homes since 1958, and today we have one of the largest supported housing networks in New York State, serving some 500 men and women. Recognizing that every person wants and needs something different in their living situation, each home is unique.
Within the many settings that members live, Fountain House offers two broad levels of support:
In the more supported environment of our residence buildings and shared apartments, members have access to a 24-hour staff, assistance with their medication, and help with budgeting and other necessary skills.
In homes where members require minimal support, residential buildings and single room hotels may be staffed only during the day. Mobile support teams provide assistance to our members who maintain their own apartments.
While our members live in a variety of home situations, those who live in Fountain House Housing must be New York State residents and are subject to further eligibility requirements.
