Protest Recent Budget Cuts!

Posted on July 25, 2011
Send a letter on behalf of Fountain House! Recent budget cuts have left crucial programs unfunded. Use the letter below or write your own message to let government officials know that quality community mental health services are important to you.

Dear _________:

I am writing to you in response to the recent funding cuts to Fountain House, a 63-year old organization that provides crucial services to New Yorkers living with serious mental illness.  These cuts severely limit the scope of their work and will have a significant impact on an already vulnerable population.

In particular, the Enhanced Outreach Team provides essential assistance to over 140 members of Fountain House who live in independent apartments throughout New York City. These services enable people to maintain their well-being and their housing. The Enhanced Outreach Team is the sole source of support for many, who will now be at risk for isolation, hospitalization, and homelessness. I urge you to reconsider these cuts.
