On December 3rd Fountain House board members, friends, members, and staff gathered together for the annual Holiday Open House, hosted by Fountain House president, Kenneth J. Dudek. The event took place in the state-of-the-art Peter B. Lewis and Adam Lewis Wellness Center, which was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. It was a bittersweet moment as attendees paused to reflect on the generosity and vision of Peter B. Lewis, a dear friend of Fountain House who passed away this past November. Our deepest appreciation goes to the Lewis family for their support of our community.
Fountain Gallery’s current show Small Works was relocated to the Open House for the evening, so that guests could do their holiday shopping. Kenneth Dudek announced the recent publication of Fountain House: Creating Community in Mental Health Practice, co-authored by Alan Doyle, Julius Lanoil and him and published by Columbia University Press. It was available for purchase by all (autographs included!). Guests saw friends old and new and enjoyed wonderful food and drink.

Claire F., a member of the Wellness Unit, shared her personal story with the audience, noting how important the Fountain House Wellness Program has been to her life. She stated that she is currently the most stable she has ever been and credits the Wellness Unit with helping her heal both her mind and her body in tandem. The festive spirit was in the air as attendees toasted the holiday season and looked forward to making even greater strides for mental health in 2014.
