I’m One-in-Four: Lamont Batchler

“My wellness background is…”

I used to exercise a lot in high school and was capable of participating in most physical activities. I also stopped smoking cigarettes two years ago, which I am proud of.

I’m training for the Fountain House One-in-Four 5K because…

After talking to some doctors I learned that I had diabetes. My foot doctor said I should exercise as much as I can.

To me, “wellness” is a state of mind to think about my health and avoid picking up bad habits like smoking.

Healthy living is important for longevity and having a decent life span.

My best 5K training tip is to stay consistent with the weekly walking groups that the Wellness Unit is providing. That should help people feel comfortable walking the 5K.
