Fountain House Announces Executive Fellowship

Fountain House New York announces an Executive Fellowship for individuals who aspire to be clubhouse directors. Fellows will integrate state of the art management techniques with the ideals and approach to social practice originated at Fountain House. The Fellowship is open to anyone who aspires to be a clubhouse director, including applicants from outside the United States.* (See full criteria.)
 
Applicants are expected to have nonprofit work experience (prior clubhouse experience is not required) and hold a Masters Degree or be matriculated in a Masters Degree program. The Fellowship duration is ten months, starting in September 2011. A stipend of $30,000 will be awarded to Fellows as well as free accommodations in the Fountain House guesthouse. 
 
The Fellowship is an immersion program where participants integrate contemporary nonprofit management techniques within the practice principles of Fountain House. While carrying out normal house assignments, Fellows will be expected to focus on such issues as: 
 
·         fostering initiative and charisma in staff
·         practicing distributive budgeting techniques
·         demonstrating motivational inspiration in both writing and speaking
·         fostering a collaborative style of leadership
·         initiating advocacy in the community on behalf of the membership in partnership with allied agencies
 
A completed application is due on July 1, 2011 and should include:
 
·         The Personal Information Sheet
·         A letter of intent
·         Three letters of recommendation that include one academic and one professional reference from an employer
·         A graduate transcript
·         A current resume

*Note: Fountain House is currently applying for J-1 visa eligibility under which Fellows would be accepted into the United States. Foreign applicants must also demonstrate fluency in English.
