Double Trouble: Support for Recovery

Double Trouble meetings are for people who are both chemically addicted and mentally ill.   My experience with Double Trouble has been very rewarding, and it has made a big difference in my life.  Everyone is welcome at a Double Trouble meeting, no matter how long you are clean and sober.

I started drinking and drugging at age 13. It continued to get worse day by day. Next I knew, I was sniffing and freebasing coke, and then I graduated to crack-cocaine. I made many visits to Gracie Square Hospital to detox. I gathered a lot of time sober, but I would blow it due to the loneliness and depression. When I was 25, I thought I wouldn’t live much longer because of drugs and alcohol. Everyone at Fountain House and Double Trouble stood by me and supported me through my recovery, even when I relapsed.

Everyone in the Double Trouble program has done a great job. Meetings are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6 pm. I encourage anyone who feels they may have a drinking or drugging problem to attend. If this blog helps one person, one minute, one day, it will have been worth it. It’s already helped me.
